CivPro: Coming to a Bar Exam Near You.

Everyone remembers those first harrowing weeks of Civil Procedure. The thought of being called on to talk about Pennoyer v. Neff or International Shoe sent shivers down your spine. Now CivPro is making a come back (even though it’s typically always an essay question on the bar).

Starting in 2015, the WSJ Law Blog reports, Civ Pro will be on the MBE Multiple Choice section of the Bar Exam. It makes sense, considering it’s the only topic of 1L curriculum you’re nearly guaranteed to use throughout your law career.

While this addition sounds like bad news, it won’t be making the bar exam longer.

The exam already covers constitutional law, contracts, criminal law and procedure, evidence, real property and torts. The addition of civil procedure, which students typically study in their first year of law school, won’t make the exam longer. The other sections will be clipped to make room.
